Shift Nursing

Aberdeen employs nurses, both RN and RPN who provide nursing for a longer period of time: usually greater than 3 hours. Often these nurses work for 8 – 12 hours providing care in the client’s home or school.

Working alone with the client means our shift nurses are very comfortable working independently and they have achieved competence in a number of essential skills such as tracheotomy care, eternal feeds, chest assessment and care of acquired brain injury.

Shift nursing if often an essential part of the plan of care to allow for parents and other family members to spend time getting rest and relaxation and this allows for a normalizing of family relationships.
